John was born in Glasgow in 1978. His first recollection of drawing was through the guidance of his Grandfather when he was five years old, drawing post cards and Christmas cards.
Throughout his primary and secondary education John was always known as the Artist of the class. At Lourdes Secondary School John's talents were nourished by his art teacher and Artist Alan King.
John attended Cardonald College, Glasgow where he left with an NC Drawing and Painting with Design. The portfolio he produced from this course helped him gain entry to the prestigious Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, in Dundee.
After graduating with an Honours Degree in Illustration and Printmaking John went on to achieve a Master of Design in Illustration at Duncan of Jordanstone in 2002.
John attended Paisley University where he increased his knowledge and design skills with a BA Hons in Computer Animation and Digital Art in 2004.
Since Graduation John has exhibited in various graduate and solo exhibitions in Glasgow, Dundee, North Ayrshire, London and parts of Canada such as Banff and Toronto where he worked and traveled in 2005 .
John was the featured Artist drawing Paul Ferris’s portrait in the Channel 5 documentary MacIntyre’s Underworld.
John's powerful and emotional figurative work with it's distinctive style proves that he is one up and coming Scottish Artist to look out for.
